MINDY4 (MINDY Lysine 48 Deubiquitinase 4) is located on human chromosome 7p14.3. MINDY4 is a gene that encodes a protein that is evolutionarily conserved among mammals. Its mRNA has been found to be highly expressed in most solid tumors, including colorectal cancer. The MINDY4 protein is broadly expressed in testis, lung and other tissues. Structurally, the encoded protein is reported to be 84372 Da in mass. The MINDY4 (also known as AQP1; AQP-1; CHIP28; C7orf67; FAM188B) gene is conserved in chimpanzee, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, and frog. 230 organisms have orthologs with human gene MINDY4. MINDY4 is a probable hydrolase that can remove 'Lys-48'-linked conjugated ubiquitin from proteins.
